Bhairabi Temple

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and the backdrop of the temple provides a view of the Kalia Bhomora Setu, which has been built across the Brahmaputra River. The local people of the place also refer to this temple as Bhairabi Devalaya and Maithan. According to legends, Usha, who was the daughter of Asura King Banasura, came regularly to this temple for worshipping Goddess Durga. The sacrificing offerings at this temple include bulls and goats. The famous Bamuni Hills also lies at a few km from this temple.

Architectural style: Assamese

Entrance of the pilgrimage: The flight of staircases shows way to the main entrance of this shrine which is adjoining to the road outside.

Splendid carving: The masterpiece work representing 9th century’s at marvel can be glimpsed via the sculpted idols and quaint carvings inside the temple.

Sacrificial offering: As per staunch belief of ardent devotees, sacrificial offerings as of goat and bulls are still in trend there.

Local stalls: Like local vendors selling offering materials, the pilgrimage is flooded with the stalls which have the arrangement of every good that are requisite for worshipping of the goddess such as incense, incense sticks, earthen lamps, flowers, petals, sweets and petals.
