According to historical evidences, the temple of Dashabhuja Ganpati was built during the reign of Peshwas. The temple was founded when one of the sardars of Peshwa, Haripant Phadke was building a well on the plot he owned here. It has also been documented that this temple was further donated to the Peshwas as a part of dowry. Today, the temple is managed by the Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan, who also takes care of other four temples including the Mrutunjayeshwar Temple, Sarasbaug Temple,Parvati Hill Temple and the Ramana Temple.
Architecture
Today, the temple is well taken care of and maintained with beautiful artworks, stone pillars and arches. The moment you enter the main entrance of the temple, you start experiencing the spiritual aura present here. Moreover, the captivating Ganesh idol present in the sanctum offers you the best of tranquility it can offer. Crafted out of mere stone, the chrome colored idol is simply an excellent piece of work. The compound of Dashabhuja Ganpati Temple also comprises of a small Hanuman Temple. Devotees are often seen visiting the Hanuman temple on Saturday when they offer garlands and oil to the holy deity.
