Shri Charbhuja Temple
Rajsamand District is a district of the state of Rajasthan in western India. The town ofRajsamand is the district headquarters. The city and district are named for Rajsamand Lake, an artificial lake created in the 17th century by Rana Raj Singh of Mewar. The district had been constituted on 10 April 1991 from Udaipur district.

Shri Charbhuja Temple is a famous temple of the lord Vishnu in the Garhbor village in Kumbhalgarh tehsil of Rajsamand district in the state of Rajasthan, India. Charbhuja mean ‘four arms’ i.e lord Vishnu of Hindu’s. Charbhuja temple is of lord Vishnu which was built by Shri Gang Dev who received divine instructions from lord Vishnu in his dreams. Believing on his dream, Gang dev recovered an 85 centimeters high idol of Shri Charbhuja ji. It was also believed that more than 125 battles were fought to protect this temple and many times it was submerged in water for its protection. Pandava also worshiped this Shri Charbhuja idol.
The Shri Charbhuja Temple is extremely charming. It has been conceived and built on a grand scale. Out of the four principal seats of faith (Chardham), Shri Charbhuja Ji is the principal above. It is a center of Vaishnava faith and devotion. This temple is said to be thousands of years old. Popular belief goes that Shri Charbhuja Ji has worshipped in Dwapar age also. For testing this miraculous status from the invaders, the idol was submerged in to water many a time. In every darshan (vewing time) a sword and shield are put up as symbols of Rajaput chivalry.
Then the king Shri Gang Dev got divine instruction in his dream to install the idol to be recovered from water. Then he installed this idol in his garh (fort). It is said the Pandavas also worshiped this idol before proceeding for their last YATRA to Himalaya. To protect this temple about 125 battles have taken place. Many times idol also was submerged in the water for its safety.
Shri Charbhuja temple was constructed near the Gomati River in 1444 A.D. Temple is also known for its unmatched architecture with magnificent mirror work inside the temple. White marble, lime mortar and mirror is used as the construction material for this temple. Its gold inside shutters and silver ouside shutter attracts with stone elephant which are placed on both side of the entrance in the temple. Garud ji idol is also situated in the courtyard. 85 cm idol of Shri Charbhuja ji has four arms which are holding conch, discus, mace and a lotus flower each. Inscription in the temple tells about the village name Badri, so the idol also known as Badrinath.
The Shri Charbhuja Temple was built in 1444AD. According to the inscription inside the temple, village name was Badri, therefore, the idol is considered as BadriNath. The deity of Charbhuja Nath is considered to be miraculous.
The idol of Shri Charbhuja Ji is 85 centimeters high. The four arms of the idol hold conch, discus, mace and a lotus flowers. The discus and the mace symbolize dynamic power, energy and prowess. Some casts like Rajputs and the Gurjars hold a special reverence for this temple. Rajputs attribute a sword and shield as symbol of Rajput chivalry in every darshan.
The temple is made by mirrors, Lime mortars and Marble. The excellent work of the mirror is done in the original temple. The shutters of the inner temple are made of gold while outer shutters are made of silver. Garud ji is installed in the other courtyard. Stone elephants are placed on the both sides of the entrance. Temple is in the open space. The temple is visited by thousands of pilgrims.
The Shri Charbhuja Temple opens at 5:00 Am in the morning and is closed at 10:00 PM. Archana, Abhishekam and Arathi are the daily rituals performed in the temple.

Adhering to the Vaishnava traditions, various festivals on the already prescribed days of various months are held. On the 11th day of the brights half of Bhadrapada a big fair is held here.Similarily on Holi also the festivals of colours is celebrated. Other festivals are Navaratras, Janamashtami and Ramanavami. On Nights of Navaratras, Gharava dance and other cultural festivals and functions are held with real and gust.
